PEACE is dedicated to supporting and empowering the refugees of war
Decades of war in South Sudan have caused immense suffering, including millions of deaths, infrastructure destruction, and the highest rates of illiteracy and child mortality in the world.
PEACE International seeks to end this cycle of violence and poverty through education and community empowerment. Founded by Rosemary Khamati in 2012, PEACE initially served 200 children. The outbreak of civil war in 2013 led to further devastation, with many refugees finding shelter in Northern Uganda, where PEACE now focuses its efforts primarily in the Olua 1 Settlement.
Rosemary’s Impact
Working alongside Pastor Simon, a South Sudanese refugee, Rosemary operated with just two classrooms for over 200 children for three years.
PEACE addressed the hidden scars of the civil war by introducing Trauma Healing and Peace Building training in 2015. Developing these leaders fostered dialogue between previously warring tribes and the message of healing and peace began to spread across the region.
Led by our founder and executive director, Rosemary, our global team is here to support the mission of PEACE International.
